How to Prepare for Online Sound Healing

Online Sound Healing is a deeply intimate experience. It allows you to fully relax and receive in the comfort of your own home, free from the effort of travelling, social pressure, or post-session logistics. And with the right preparation, the experience can be just as transformative as an in-person session.

Sound is energy. It travels through the ether—through time, space, and even across the internet. As a professional Sound Healing practitioner, I’ve witnessed the deep and lasting effects of this modality, even when delivered over Zoom.

Whether you’re joining me for the first time or returning for another journey, here’s how to make the most of your online sound healing experience.

Online Considerations: Setting Yourself Up for the Best Sound

To receive the highest quality sound online, a few simple technical preparations can go a long way:

Check Your Internet Speed

Visit speedtest.net to measure your download speed. Ideally, a minimum of 5 Mbps is recommended for a smooth experience. If your speed is 0.5 Mbps or lower, you may encounter issues.

Smartphone vs Wi-Fi

Sometimes your mobile data may be faster than your home internet. If so, consider using your phone’s data plan—just be sure your provider allows it and there’s enough data for a Zoom session.

Improve Your Connection

  • Turn off unused Wi-Fi devices in your home.
  • Ask housemates or family members to avoid streaming or large downloads during your session.
  • Sit close to your router—or better yet, plug directly into it using an ethernet cable for greater stability.

Audio Quality Tips

  • Use quality earbuds or headphones—they make a huge difference.
  • In Zoom, make sure to turn on “Use Original Sound” in audio settings so that you have the full range of frequencies, especially if you will be singing or playing instruments with me live.
Preparing Your Space: Creating a Sacred Cocoon

Treat this session like a warm bath for your soul. Prepare your space with care and intention:

  • Light a candle or incense if you prefer.
  • Arrange crystals, objects of meaning, or a small altar nearby.
  • Create a nest with blankets, cushions, and soft lighting.
  • Switch off all app notifications and put your phone on silent.
  • Let others in your household know you’ll be unavailable for the duration of the session (unless it’s truly urgent).
  • Have some water and maybe a piece of fruit nearby for grounding after the session.

What to Expect During the Online Sound Healing Session

As you settle in, approach the session with an open heart and a spirit of curiosity. Here are a few guiding principles:

  • Join Zoom early to allow time for setup and audio checks.
  • Close all other apps or programs on your device.
  • Be a friendly, curious witness to your inner landscape. Notice sensations, colours, images or feelings that arise—without judgement.
  • Everyone responds to sound differently. If any sounds feel uncomfortable, please let me know.
  • At the end of the session, we enter a period of silence—this is a deeply sacred time for the healing to integrate. Honour this stillness and listen within.

Trust the Process

This is a sacred time for you. Let go of expectations. Know that sound is intelligent and works in harmony with your highest good. No two sessions are ever the same. Some may be blissful, some emotional, others deeply grounding. All are valid.

And remember—healing is not just about feeling better, but becoming more whole. 🙂
